Color Triad Tree Paintings

Today we learned about Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Colors and how to mix them.  We read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and observed how he drew trees.  We looked at pictures of trees and how then tend to form a triangle.  We observed tree branches and how they make a "y" and get thinner at the tips.  We used professional watercolors to give our trees colors that POP.  We only used primary colors on our trees, but when we sprayed them with water, they mixed into secondary colors.  We learned a paint tapping technique and applied water to our paintings with spray bottles.  We finished off the day with ice cream.
