Dr. Seuss Pictures

Today we talked about Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel) and his work.  Did you know that he threw out 95% of his material until he settled on a theme because he wanted it to be perfect?
We started off art class by reading Oh, the Places You'll Go.  We observed the lines and colors of the book.

Dr. Seuss

We did Dr. Seuss drink experiments by doing a red, white and blue drink.

We ate popcorn while we colored our masterpieces.

Our projects were meant to take home to have a fun project to finish.

Self Portraits

Today we worked on self portraits.  We watched a short video of the 40 most famous self portraits ever painted.  We also learned how to draw a simple face - have your child show you how.  I think this project is my absolute favorite because they are all frame-able.  Thank you for sharing your cute kiddos with me.  They are so talented...........and simply amazing.

Bubble Pictures

We started our class today by making origami cards for our fathers for Father's Day.  Then we explored the world of bubbles.  We had two bubble machines going and we observed bubble patterns:  What colors do you see in them?  How can you tell they are round?  How can you see the light in them?  What makes them look transparent?  Then we went to work by tracing circles with oil pastels and adding color to the bubbles.  I love how each student saw the bubbles in a different way.  And of course, we ended with a treat.  :)

Absent from our last week's class.  I forgot to take one of the absent pics......sorry A!
